Turn on or off Wi-Fi from the keyboard in Windows 11

Most of the laptops include a dedicated function key to turn on or off the Wi-Fi adapter. One of the function keys will have a small wireless symbol as shown in the picture below.

Turn Wi-Fi on or off via Quick Settings in Windows 11

Step 1: Click on the network/volume/battery icon on the taskbar to open the Quick Settings flyout.

Step 2: The top section of Quick Settings displays the Wi-Fi icon, as you can see in the picture above. Perform a click on the Wi-Fi icon to turn off or on the Wi-Fi. Simple as that!

Method 1 of 7

Turn on or off Wi-Fi from the keyboard in Windows 11

Most of the laptops include a dedicated function key to turn on or off the Wi-Fi adapter. One of the function keys will have a small wireless symbol as shown in the picture below.

Note that if the keyboard Wi-Fi key is not working, it’s likely because of the missing keyboard driver. Please install the keyboard driver from your PC manufacturer’s website to fix the problem.

Method 2 of 7

Turn Wi-Fi on or off via Quick Settings in Windows 11

Step 1: Click on the network/volume/battery icon on the taskbar to open the Quick Settings flyout.

Step 2: The top section of Quick Settings displays the Wi-Fi icon, as you can see in the picture above. Perform a click on the Wi-Fi icon to turn off or on the Wi-Fi. Simple as that!

Turn Wi-Fi on or off via Settings in Windows 11

Step 1: Open Settings either using search or Windows + I keyboard shortcut.

Step 2: In the left pane, click Network & internet.

Step 3: Now, on the right side, use the toggle button next to the Wi-Fi to turn it off or on.

Turn Wi-Fi on or off via Device Manager in Windows 11

Step 1: Perform a right-click on the Start button on the taskbar and then click the Device Manager option to open the same.

Step 2: In the Device Manager window, expand the Network adapters tree to see your Wi-Fi adapter’s entry.

Step 3: Now, perform a right-click on the Wi-Fi adapter’s entry and then click the Disable device option.

Note that you might get a list of entries when you expand the tree. So, it’s important to disable the correct one.

Step 4: When you get the following prompt, click on the Yes button to disable the device.

To enable the Wi-Fi adapter again, right-click on the entry and click Enable device option.

Another way to turn on or off Wi-Fi via Settings in Windows 11

Step 1: Open the Settings app. Click Network & internet on the left side of Settings.

Step 2: On the right side, click on Airplane mode.

Step 3: In the Wireless devices section, use the toggle button next to the Wi-Fi entry to turn it on or off.

Another way to turn Wi-Fi on or off via Quick Settings in Windows 11

Step 1: Open the Quick Settings flyout by clicking on the network/volume/battery icon on the taskbar.

Step 2: Click on the small arrow icon next to the Wi-Fi icon (refer to the picture below).

Step 3: If the Wi-Fi is turned on, you will see a list of available networks. Move the toggle button next to the Wi-Fi (refer to the picture below) to turn the Wi-Fi on/off.

Method 7 of 7

Use the dedicated button to turn on or off Wi-Fi in Windows 11

In addition to a dedicated function key on the keyboard to turn on/off Wi-Fi, some laptops include a dedicated button to turn on/off Wi-Fi. If present, you can use the button to turn on or off the Wi-Fi quickly. We mentioned this method at the last as most new laptops do not include a dedicated button.
